Evaluation
Teamwork
In terms of teamwork, I felt we worked very well as a group
because we managed to all communicate with each other’s concerning our ideas
and the way we vision the outcome of our advert. Everyone were happy to share
their knowledge and skills on a photographic, filming and editing aspect. When
I needed help they all assisted me nicely and vice versa.
Skills (software / Photoshop / new techniques)
Although I discovered and learnt about Photoshop for the
first time last year, I feel I was able to use the skills from last year to work
on my poster advert but my peer Serkan taught me new things such as this new
tool called magnetic lasso tool so I
could use it to do what I wanted. My others peers also very helpful. I didn’t
know about this and the potential effect of it. Those tools gave me the
possibility to create my poster the way I pictured it in my mind and the same
thing apply to editing as to première pro. I knew very little about première
pro and what I knew about it, I shared it with my other 3 peers and vice versa,
what they knew they share it with me.
Planning (how effective it was)
When it comes to the advert, we all started by doing
individual secondary research on the hair gel product then we shared our
findings.
We started by taking into account demographics (age, gender…)
which gave us an idea of the target audience we aimed at and what question to
ask when we did our primary research (survey). In regards to the preproduction,
it went well because we all incorporated our ideas and also we were well
organised in terms of our schedule plan. The only problem we encountered, was
that we had to change the location. Originally, we booked the theatre as it was
our chosen location but on the day we were going to film, a lesson was taking
place so we decided to film in the TV studio instead which means we had to
adjust our ideas based on the location. We spend 2 days filming and 2 days at
editing it.
For my poster, the planning I had to do was to sketch my
ideas but I ended up not following my plans and changing my ideas as from the
moment we started to go to the studio and take photos. I felt my ideas were
shaping as I was going along. I took demo photos and started to play around
with them and see what would worked better in terms of colours and the
composition. This taster poster really helped me to think and focus on my final
idea.
How the project meets the expectations?
Both print advert and TV advert exceeded my expectations. The
success of this is that in my TV advert, is that the feedback was good as they
enjoyed the advert and thought the editing was good, and that teamwork affected
it a lot as it showed a lot in the outcome of the video. For my print advert the success was that
taking the photo of my model came out in good quality.
What I would improve in the future is that when using
photoshop, when cutting out the edge of the photos it came out quite crooked
around the edges as my motor skills are quite slow. So for the future, I would ensure that I take my
time when cropping to make sure the outcome is perfect.
Feedback
I think the reason we managed to produce a successful advert
it is because we worked extremely well as a team and were all happy to share
all our skills and ideas in order to produce something solid.
People form the class liked the variation of shots types that
we used such as mid shots and close up because it added to the atmosphere of
the scenario.
Music was fitting well with the advert but the language of
the lyrics were not appropriate due to some swearing words which is something
we should have considered as if it was to be published then it is the only
aspect of our advert that we would have to amend and consider.
With regards to the lighting, they said it added a mysterious
and suggestive feeling to the product.
The class felt that it was done to a very professional level
because of the light, the chosen types of shots and the quality of how we edited
it which makes it looks like a finished product (polished and finalised).
Everyone from the class gave us 10 out 10.
